The Florida Land Surveyor’s Council Latin motto is "Agrimensores Defendentes Jura Agrorum Dominorum." In English, this translates to "Surveyors Protecting the Property Right of Landowners." This motto is proudly displayed on your badge along with our logo. For those of you who want to order your badges now, the current price for the badges is $20.00. To order your badge, contact us immediately in order that your badge can be ready for the Retreat.

PEER REVIEW:

By the way, we'll be having our usual "Peer Review" at this Retreat, so you must bring three (3) survey drawings to be admitted! -- No Excuses!

MANDATORY CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS FOR LICENSE RENEWAL:

In May, 2008, our Council mailed a postcard to all licensed Florida Professional Surveyors & Mappers ("PSM"s") that contained the following statement:

NOTICE!

"Starting November, 2008, it will be necessary for members to renew their membership every year in order to receive the full 24 credits required for PSM Recertification per biennial. Members cannot renew every other year and receive the full 24 credits. Members who wish to renew every other year may receive 12 credits per renewal year."

Accordingly, PSM’s who were Council members in 2008- 2009 as well as in 2009-2010 will receive the full 24 credits for attendance at this Retreat for license renewal for the 2010-2011 biennium. PSM’s in attendance at this Retreat who were not Council members in 2008- 2009 as well as in 2009-2010 will only receive 12 credits unless their 2008-2009 membership fee of $225.00 is paid together with their 2009-2010 membership fees. Earned Continuing Education Credit Hours will be reported to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation by the  Council. As always, this Retreat is FREE to current members of the Council.

The course text for the Retreat will be our text of Florida laws and regulations which will be used to address issues of law plus other handouts, as needed. We have updated these texts to be current to May, 2010. This is especially important now since the Department of Agriculture, Division of Consumer Services, has taken over the Board of Professional Surveyors & Mappers from the Department of Business & Professional Regulation. In fact, the rules regulating the Board have now changed from 61G-17, F.A.C. to 5J-17, F.A.C. If you have your copy of the text with you at the Retreat, you will not be required to purchase another set.  We’ll take major credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) as well as checks and cash at the Retreat. To obtain your text materials in advance of the Retreat, please send your $95.00 payment ($75.00 for the text plus $20.00 shipping and handling) to:
